The venue

1599 was delighted to host Rebecca and Jamie’s wedding in January 2026. Their day made full use of the venue’s historic spaces, including an intimate ceremony in the lower library and ending the occasion with a College hall evening reception. After their first viewing of the Royal College, the couple chose the lower library for their ceremony.

“From the moment we visited 1599 we fell in love… we settled on the lower library. This felt so personal to us as Rebecca is a keen reader and getting married in a library has always been a dream.”

The setting offers a backdrop like that of a storybook, with plenty of books upon bookshelves and golden spiral staircases, the couple were drawn to the Lower Library to host their ceremony. After the newlyweds said “I do” the evening continued to College Hall.

College Hall was dressed in candelabras and a U-shape with a top table set up for dinner and speeches. The room boasts many beautiful, original features including a magnificent ornate ceiling, chandeliers and an impressive Victorian fireplace.

“There is a timeless dark academia feel to the venue, it’s elegant and proudly demonstrates the history of the Royal College which gave the guests a lot to talk about.”

They also gave a glowing review of the use of the Princess Alexandra Room which was set up as a quieter bar room and the lecture theatre which was used as a cinema room for keeping those younger guests entertained. The College stairwell is a beautiful photoshoot opportunity which Rebecca and Jamie made full use of.

“We had most photographs on the beautiful staircase which was spacious enough for a big group shot with everyone too! After this we had our reception and the reception… It was seamless from start to finish. It will truly be a day we remember forever.”

The stairway is one of the buildings most noticeable features with plenty of space to experiment with your wedding day photography to create truly unique memories.

The team

The couple highlighted the role of the 1599 team in delivering the day of their dreams. From planning through to the day itself, the events team supported coordination and ensured everything ran smoothly. The 1599 team provide support in all the little details that make the day special, the catering, the space, the setup and being present on the day. 1599 menus are carefully planned, with the kitchen team working closely with the couple to ensure everything ran smoothly on the day. This approach also supports efforts to reduce food waste and make best use of seasonal ingredients.

“Food was second to none… it was one of the biggest compliments we got from our guests.”

On the day, staff were present throughout to guide the schedule, support guests and respond to any last-minute changes. This included assisting with preparations before the ceremony, helping manage transitions between spaces, and ensuring the couple felt supported at each stage. Their experience has even led the team to becoming veil fluffing experts! We are so delighted to have been part of Rebecca and Jamie’s special day and we wish them all the very best in their future life together.
